Christopher P. Tobey Ph.D.

Background

Dr. Christopher P. Tobey is both a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Psychologist practicing Clinical Psychology in Washington. He received his B.S. degree from Seattle University, A Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a doctoral degree in Family Clinical Psychology from Seattle Pacific University.

Dr. Tobey has spent 10 years in residential treatment settings providing treatment services to both children and adolescents. He has been in private practice at the same location in Anacortes, Washington since 1992 providing treatment to primarily adolescents, adults, couples and families. Dr. Tobey serves on several boards and committees such as the Northwest Behavioral Health Independent Practioners Association, the Mental Heath Advisory Board to the Skagit County Commissioners, the Child Protect Team of Skagit County and PsyCorps: Psychotherapists without Borders.

Practice Description

Psychological interventions to address the many needs of adolescents, adults and families. Dr. Tobey also provides safety assessments for youth who have threatened violence or have engaged in violent behavior. He also conducts parenting evaluations for parents involved in high conflict divorce litigation as well as parenting evaluations for parents involved in the dependency process.

Theoretical Orientation

Dr. Tobey primarily draws upon object relations theory and family systems theory utilizing a bio-psycho-social perspective and actively engages individuals with primarily cognitive behavioral interventions
