I graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in psychology and sociology in 2006 and received my Masters in marriage and family therapy from Seattle Pacific University in 2011. I am a Washington State Child Mental Health Specialist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
I have worked as a counselor in various settings since 2007. Some of my resume includes residential care, working in special education for the school district, outpatient work with chronic mental illness, counseling children and their families, and group therapy. I have spent six years in community mental health settings, and I have been in private practice since 2013.
I treat issues including:
- Grief and loss
- Child and adolescent stress
- Relationship issues
- Stress management
- Behavior concerns
I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I am most passionate about my work with teens.
I am trained in a family systems approach to therapy, which means multiple layers of influence are considered when treating clients. I also borrow from several other therapeutic lenses including humanistic/client-centered, narrative, experiential, and existential psychotherapy.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for my clients; they are some of the bravest people on the planet, and I prefer them to be in the driver's seat of treatment. I think it is the relationship that develops between client and counselor that is often most healing, and I am open to feedback to make that relationship as helpful and cohesive as possible.
I love being with my family and friends, staying active, and playing and watching sports. I love kids. I love reading great books that stretch me to think differently, take me to different places, and/or make me better. I could curl up to a movie anytime, and I enjoy all kinds of music.
